Sam Thorp

Artist

Sam Thorp(They/them) is a genderqueer artist creating drawings with a sweeping gestural lines and expressive use of color. Each drawing is then printed out making it a “print” similar to a photograph “print” printed from a digital file. Sam's work tends to focus on exploring ideas in the fringe areas of gender, sexuality and culture.
Sam attended the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the arts and has a degree in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Sam is based in Pittsburgh, with numerous exhibitions including the Warhol Museum, The Westmoreland Museum of Art, The Toonseum, & Gallery Chiz. Sam has also shown internationally with the NYC VisualAids, Loud & Queer in CA, Leslie Lohman Museum of Gay & Lesbian Art, Hyperallergic Art, CPOP in Detroit, REform gallery in the UK, as well as private clients in France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand and Australia.
