PERSAD’S 25th ANNUAL ART AUCTION AND RECEPTION WILL BE HELD MONDAY, MAY 13, 2013 AT THE AUGUST WILSON CENTER – DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH

PITTSBURGH - “Art for Change,” the 25th year of Art for AIDS, is Persad Center’s largest fundraiser and the premiere art auction in southwestern Pennsylvania. Again this year, the Art for Change event will be held at the August Wilson Center in downtown Pittsburgh on Monday, May 13 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Once again UPMC will be presenting as the Title Sponsor.

Since its inception in 1988, the auction has raised more than $3.75 million for Persad’s Free Care Fund, allowing the organization to offer quality services to eligible clients regardless of their ability to pay.

Art for Change is both a verbal and silent auction featuring more than 200 original works of art generously donated by local, national, and international artists, including paintings, photography, sculpture, furniture, and jewelry. The auction takes place amidst a lively strolling cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception, featuring delicacies from the area’s top restaurants, live entertainment, and a diverse audience from all corners of the region.

New Bidding and Checkout System

For the first time, electronic bidding through smart phones, or hand-held devices provided at the auction, will allow attendees to monitor all of the silent auction pieces from any location at the event. This new concept will generate excitement as guests are able to track and increase their bids with the touch of a finger as they stroll through the auction.
